Energy Conservation prior to WE CONSERVE:

Investment of $29 million between 2001-2006 as part of the Wisconsin Energy Initiative in partnership with the Department of Administration and the Johnson Controls Corporation, resulting in installation of:
  • More efficient chillers in central plants

  • 200,000 high efficiency fluorescent lights

  • 2,000 premium efficiency motors

  • 10,000 occupancy sensors

  • 6,000 LED exit lights

  • 643 HVAC units on building automation system

  • 3,000 water-saving plumbing fixtures

  • 10,000 window inserts

  Important Outcomes:

Recipient of the U.S. Energy Association’s 2004 Energy Leadership Public Service Award in recognition of :
  • Reduction of over 6,432,000 million BTU of energy resulting in over $3.5 million annual savings
     

  • Reduction of campus water usage by more than 300 million gallons per year
