Usage Reduction & Recycling

Reducing
• Disposable bottles, dishware, bags, etc…
• Transition from paper to e-commerce & internet

• Office Paper, newspaper, magazines, cardboard

   Accomplishments

• 9 percent increase in recycling since year 2006

• Working with UW-Housing on a students move-out program to increase landfill diversion & material reuse

• Planning the expansion of “drink refill” programs at the Unions & UW-Housing food services

• Alliance with UW-SWAP to streamline campus recycling and material re-use programs & procedures

• Expansion of construction materials recycling

• Expansion of composting program to include 365 tons of food products & biodegradable dishware
